Diagnosis

Stage II A breast cancer.

Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) with microinvasion in left breast. Tumor is <1 mm and 2 sentinel lymph nodes show micrometastatic disease (<2 mm). Tumor is estrogen positive and HER2/neu negative.

Treatment Plan

Lumpectomy

Chemotheraphy (six cyles of TAC every three weeks)

Radiation (six weeks daily)

Hormone therapy (five years of tamoxifen)

First biopsy of left breast

Initial diagnosis

1/17/03
Lumpectomy

2/14/03 - 5/50/03
Chemotherapy every three weeks

7/2/03
Radiation therapy every weekday

Pathology Is Benign

Pathologist's report showed that the biopsy taken yesterday, 12/30/02, has no cancer.

Good News.

I just received a telephone call from Dr. Joel Bernstein, Ann's radiologist and co-director of Evanston Northwestern Healthcare's (ENH's) Breast Imaging Center. He said that the pathologist's report showed that the biopsy taken yesterday has no cancer.

Our next step is to review this welcome result with Dr. David P. Winchester, Ann's surgeon, and get a detailed report from him regarding a treatment plan. We will also get a second opinion from another surgeon prior to starting treatment. We do not have any appointments for these consultations at this time. We will share additional information with you as it becomes available.

In the mean time, we are glad that we have a bottle of champagne chilled for tonight's New Year celebration.
